Atlantic Cape Women’s Volleyball Sophomore McKenna Weber Earns 2nd Team All-GSAC Honors

MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College Buccaneers Women’s Volleyball student athlete McKenna Weber was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 All-Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Division III 2nd Team on November 8.

Weber, a sophomore setter from Egg Harbor Township, N.J., became a team leader this season as she set the tempo for the squad both offensively and defensively with her infectious positivity and aggressive style of play.

“We are so thrilled to see McKenna earn All-GSAC 2nd Team honors. Her skill level and volleyball IQ from last year to this year improved tremendously. Everything started clicking for her mentally and physically this year, and it was incredible to witness,” said Head Coach Karla Maisto. “McKenna proved herself worthy of this honor. She was a vital part of our offense and defense, and she positively contributed in every skill and at every position on the court.”

Weber, who chose to attend Atlantic Cape because of its affordability, is considering attending Rowan University next fall to study mathematics and education.

“She has been a leader in every way that you need your setter to be. They are the quarterback of the team, someone who runs the offense, someone who expects 100% effort from their teammates and leads by example,” said Maisto. “I wish I could have another two years with her.”
